Deemed a ‘rising star soprano’ by Korean newspaper Dong-A Ilbo,

Gemma Nha is a 24-year-old Korean-Australian soprano currently a member of Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center. Gemma’s repertoire ranges from Mozart to contemporary musical theatre, having sung roles such as Barbarina Volksoper Wien and Zerlina Schlosstheater Schönbrunn, as well as making her professional debut as Tuptim in The King and I with Seefestspiele Mörbisch. Gemma recently won First Prize in the 18th Seoul International Music Competition and was a National Semifinalist of the Laffont Metropolitan Opera Competition. This season, Gemma makes her Lyric Opera of Chicago house debut as the Page in Verdi’s Rigoletto, reprises Barbarina and sing Jess and covers Ashley in Missy Mazzoli’s The Listeners.
