2023-2024 Season Announcement

This year has been WILD! After finishing my first year of Masters at The Juilliard School, I spent the last three months at the Santa Fe Opera as an Apprentice Singer. As soon as that was done, it was back to Juilliard, this time as a Kovner Fellow! Lots of exciting things are happening this year!

To start the season, I’m heading to Chicago to sing in the finals of the Chicago Lyric Ryan Opera Center auditions. I had the honour of singing for them way back in April and again at the Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Singer Industry Day in August, and I’m so excited for the opportunity to sing in their house.

Then it’s back to New York City for the last rehearsals of Dreams and Monsters, a collaboration between Music Before 1800, the Juilliard Historical Performance department’s Juilliard415 and the Ellen and James S. Marcus Institute for Vocal Arts. This concert will feature some of Rameau’s orchestral works as well as arias from his Castor et Pollux and Dardanus. Simultaneously, I’ll be learning the role of Ruth Baldwin in John Musto’s Later the Same Evening, which will be presented by the Juilliard Opera at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater on November 12, 15 and 17.

In terms of competitions, I’ll be participating in the Gerda Lissner Foundation Song Competition at the beginning of October, the Connecticut District of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition on October 22nd, and at the end of November, I’ll be flying to my city of birth, Seoul, to participate in the Seoul International Music Competition.

I’ll be bringing in the new year singing Flerida in Francesco Cavalli’s Erismena with Juilliard Opera in the Rosemary and Meredith Willson Theater. It’ll be my first time singing in this venue, and I’m looking forward to presenting the English translation of this opera for the first time in New York City in an intimate setting like the Willson Theater.

And finally, I will be rounding out the 2023-2024 season with my graduation recital in Paul Hall on April 30. The recital will consist of songs of the German Romantic literature and a series of Korean art songs that I am so excited to share.

This year will be incredibly busy but filled with the most beautiful music, and I am thrilled to be exploring new repertoire and venues.
